Still images from one victim's home-security camera captured a burglar skulking in her home in the Mariner's Point subdivision this week while she and her children were in bed.
3 Violent Home Invasions in 2 Days - WFTV - East Orlando, FL - A college student Raped During Avalon Park Home Invasion. A violent home invasion has upset a quiet, upscale neighborhood in Avalon Park. Deputies say two gunmen robbed a group of students and then raped a woman before making their getaway. A group of students was terrorized Tuesday morning inside of a home in Avalon Park and the gunmen escaped. It was the third violent home invasion in Orange County in just the past two days. The Avalon Park neighborhood where the college student was raped is filled with families and the attack has taken the neighbors by surprise. People who live there say it’s a family-oriented community.
Avalon Park Northwest Village is a new subdivision in east Orange County and it's just blocks away from Timber Creek Elementary School. Residents are in disbelief and many can't understand why such a heinous crime happened in their neighborhood. A spokesperson from the homeowner's association told Eyewitness News violent crime has never been an issue. Off-duty officers patrol the area 40 hours a week. There is an aggressive neighborhood watch program and citizens on patrol also actively hit the streets.

MAITLAND, Fla. -- Police in Maitland were looking Monday for four men involved in an armed home invasion. Early Monday morning the two suspects put a t-shirt over his head and punched him in the face. While one suspect held a handgun to the victim, three other suspects ransacked the house for 25 minutes, looking for anything of value. Neighbors said that they're worried about the sudden violence. "It worries me, because this is the common thing going on these days. You hear about it more in Orlando than anyone would anticipate," neighbor Jeff P. said. Officers said the four suspects fled the scene in a black Honda or Nissan. Detectives aren't revealing the kind of electronics the suspects made off with.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Orlando police were looking for two men who broke into an Orange County home and sexually assaulted a woman inside. Investigators said the men pistol-whipped a man and attacked a woman at the Regency Gardens condos near Semoran Boulevard early Saturday morning. The incident was the third violent home invasion in Orange County in less than two weeks. Detectives have not said if the other two attacks could be connected.

WELLINGTON, Fla. - Mr. Miller and his wife were planning to move out of their neighborhood because of rising crime. Before they could leave, they became crime victims when a masked gunman broke into their home. Gunshots were fired shortly before 2 a.m. Monday, leaving the intruder dead and the victims distraught. The Millers were in bed when one of their two dogs started barking. The intruder had pushed through the screened-in back patio and jimmied the sliding-glass door, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office. He was masked and wearing all black.

NAPLES, Fla. - DNA evidence led to a man’s arrest in connection to the beating of an elderly woman, according to Collier County sheriff’s deputies. Deputies say DNA collected from a bloodstain found on a woman's nightgown helped them arrest a man they say broke into a 70-year-old East Naples woman's home and beat her up on February 23. Investigators say Anicette broke into the victim's residence on Rose Avenue sometime between 10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. and attacked her while she was in her bed. The elderly victim tried to fight off her attacker as he punched her in the head multiple times and bit her. The woman received multiple bites to her hands and face during the struggle, reports stated. Deputies found that the back sliding glass door had been pried open.
